WORDPRESS AND JOOMLA – WHICH IS BETTER?

People who have developed with CMS systems will certainly choose a favorite system for their development. As web professionals, it is our job to analyze the needs of individual projects and forget about favorites. Most CMS’s are built as a bare bones system ready for expansion, but upgrading a site with 20+ extensions to the latest version of the CMS can be heinous.
To be honest, they are all unbelievable systems, and can make creating a website quick and easy, no matter how little one knows about computers and technology. Choosing which system to use can be difficult and hard to think, but it is an important choice to make. For most people, once they’ve started with one, they won’t want to change. It will help them to create mighty websites without having to worry about all the install, coding, and other technical aspects of it. This decision has always been actually simple. Let’s take a few minutes to review each of these two content management systems to see which one is right for you.

I WHAT IS CMS:

A content management system is a computer application or software used to manage the content of a Website. CMSs are usually used to run websites containing news, blogs, and shopping. The great news is that both Wordpress and Joomla are free to download, install and use, and are often contained in free script programs on hosting packages, so you do not even have to download them for using them.
In this case, Joomla comes fully-loaded with a circle of extensions and features are easy to add on. A Joomla site can be up and running in a matter of day, assuming the content is ready to go. Also, Joomla is the platform that we would like to train on since it has a great organized front-end and back-end user interface. This means that our clients can do all of the minor maintenance.

2. Time

When setting up websites with Joomla, Wordpress and other cms's. We can be confident and believe that Joomla has the shortest development cycle. This is expository for a business who competing on price sometimes.

While the functionality of Wordpress can be limited with the use of plug-ins, Joomla’s core capabilities appear to be ensemble unlimited with the use of three different types of extensions: modules, plug-ins and components
Anyone with a basic knowledge of computers and the internet should be able to begin using either Joomla or WordPress, and within a few hours, they will have mastered the basics to upgrade their content and make basic changes to their website, so they’re both great for business owners.

We found, somewhat surprisingly, that — in comparison with Joomla — WordPress lacks a lot of community-building ideas. Its website is mellifluous (they might call it minimalistic) and seems to rest on the fact that WordPress is already the most popular CMS around.

When it comes to free templates, plugins and modules, Joomla is probably slightly better than WordPress, because it not only has better template, but also is an open source package, with a huge global community who are constantly working on new designs and scripts.
Joomla also seems to have a thousand dozen of free extensions: plugins, templates, modules,…Which available to take it further, including a wide range of free options. There are also software packages, designed to allow you to create your own professional templates using a drag and drop system, which is super simple, and requires zero knowledge of html, java, or any of the other complex internet stuff.
Many of the major freelancing platforms online have Joomla developers who will create custom templates, plugins, or modules for a very reasonable price. They are also very enthusiastic leading to the number of Joomla extensions growing up rapidly.
Those templates, modules or plugins can do just about anything you like on your site, so if you spend some time looking at other sites you like, you could probably have a developer somewhere in the world whip it up for you.

II. CONCLUSION

The purpose of this series is to give you clear point of view to the drawbacks, capabilities and advantages of each CMS. In my opinions, both systems are good for certain purposes and this thought seem to be reiterated every time we begin planning a site design. We would like you to walk away with enough insight and understanding to make a truly informed decision on what the best CMS for your website is. The fact is, I just cannot find the evidence to conclusively name one CMS a comprehensive winner. When it comes to a pure website application, Joomla comes out tops – the code is stronger, there are more features, and it is growing and expanding as a platform on an almost constant basis, which makes it easier to adapt to the ever-changing requirements of large-scale websites.
However, if you are looking for a basic website or blog that looks like a website, and you want something quick, easy and simple, WordPress is more than up to the job.
Of the two, you will need to have more technical skill to keep, provide and maintain a Joomla site, so if you are worried about your ability, it might be better to opt for the simpler WordPress option.
As a general rule of thumb, when I’m developing and managing a website that relies heavily on content – I will generally take a look to Wordpress. For just about everything else, I usually choose to use Joomla.
In all, both of these CMS packages are adaptable, smooth, great, low cost and easy to use. Decide whether you need a mega site or a simpler site that showcases your business in the best light, and then work from there. Joomla is up to managing just about anything, including thousand page mega sites, while WordPress will give you a clear, clean, stylish and simple business site without breaking a sweat.
